GES is proud to announce that from the end of April the hosting of our site will be switched to green.ch's new energy-efficient data server in Lupfig Zurich-West.
Green.ch not only takes care of the highest demands of its international customers regarding service, quality and safety, but also, since the 30 March 2011 opening of its premises in Lupfig, provides them with one of the most energy-efficient data centres in Switzerland.
The centre's environmentally sustainable operation concept ensures that it is not only "green" by name but also by nature. The design and size of the server rooms, the connecting channels and even the rack architecture for the installation of the servers have all been created using ecological knowledge and all hardware represents the highest levels of energy efficiency currently available.
Particular attention has been taken in the construction of the modern data centre in order to offer the most environmentally friendly option for cooling the server rooms, thus Lupfig boasts both air and water cooling systems. The heat removed will, in the future, be used to warm the adjacent green towers. Another plus is that clients can request that their hosting is done by Lupfig servers operated only on electricity supplied from a renewable source – Swiss hydroelectric power plants.
It is the implementation of such measures that has given the Zurich-West Data Centre a rating of 1.4 on the PUE-scale (Power Usage Efficiency), which is used to measure the energy efficiency of data centres. Such an excellent result makes Green.ch a perfect partner for the Global Environmental Society.
