CARLSBAD, Calif. - About a year ago Aptera officially unveiled two vehicles that could change the future of automotive design. Aptera's Typ-1 is a radically different vehicle designed to marry advanced aerodynamics with light-weight composite technology creating an incredibly powerful, yet extremely safe vehicle that is a joy to drive -- even for the most performance-minded individuals. The Aptera Typ-1 will be available in all-electric and hybrid models for less than $30,000, the electric version slated for delivery in 2008 with the hybrid model to follow. The all-electric model has a range of 120 miles. The plug-in series hybrid has achieved more than 300 miles per gallon with a range of more than 600 miles. Both versions are loaded with safety features.

The Swiss company Mindset, established one and a half years ago, has big plans: to sell 10,000 cars per year in the long-run.
Bavaria is well-known for its innovative car-makers and Loremo AG is the newest of this breed. The company was founded in 2000 in Munich and is planning to introduce a small series of the first 1.5 liter (157 mpg) 2 + 2 seater onto the roads. The Loremo is a lightweight vehicle whose development has taken a radical new direction: less is more and the most efficient use of energy is not to use it at all. From this motive new ideas sprang which gradually made it into the design. Even the name Loremo - Low Resistance Mobile - speaks of its streamlining and economy.
The plan to increase the percentage of biofuel to 10% has already been besieged in Germany; in Austria environmental minister Josef Pröll holds on to it - as of now. The OVP-minister is facing a roadblock: Since the riots from starving people all over the world, biofuel has gained the profound reputation of being the reason for the skyrocketing food prices, for the deforestation of tropical rainforest and even for the global starvation. If we would not know any better, we could be expecting that the world will end today, not tomorrow, for the sole reason of this 10% admixture with biofuel.
In the context of Japan's biggest tree planting action with which Toyota launched its global program for sustainable automobile production, the inhabitants of Toyota City, representatives of the city council, as well as workers of the company including their families gathered to enrich the environment with 50,000 trees. The resulting park will be surrounding Tsutsumi, Toyota's model factory for sustainable production, and is intended to serve as a habitat for Japan's flora and fauna.-
